Tour Details
Old stories carry a hint of truth, and twilight is the ideal moment to delve into the tales of the meigas, the legendary witches of Galicia. Our adventure commences at the designated meeting point beneath the arches of the Paseo Ribeira, right across from the Tourist Office of Baiona.
As darkness descends, we will meander through the seaside town, unveiling some of its most chilling secrets. Notably, Baiona has a history intertwined with the Black Plague and is reputed to have experienced the spectral march of the Santa Compaña.
Discover how locals shielded themselves from ominous occurrences as we ascend to the famed Cruceiro da Trinidade, where the mystical significance of these ancient stone crosses will be revealed. Along this journey, we will delve into the lore of mouros and mouras, encountering the playful Galician spirits known as trasnos. The tale of Santa Liberata will also be unveiled—an intriguing story about a martyr from Baiona, believed to be the first woman to face crucifixion.
Continuing our walking tour, we will explore the intriguing narrative of Pedro Álvarez de Soutomaior, or Pedro Madruga, who some speculate could have been none other than Christopher Columbus himself. This is just one of the captivating stories that will enrich your experience.
A leisurely stroll around Mount Boi, adjacent to the castle of Monterreal, will unveil the legend of a mysterious prince concealed behind an iron mask.
After an engaging 1.5-hour exploration filled with local myth and lore, we will return to our initial meeting spot, bringing this remarkable journey through the enchanting shadows of Baiona to a close.
