Description
The capital of Serbia, Belgrade, boasts a rich tapestry of historical, artistic, and cultural significance. Immerse yourself in the heritage of this vibrant city with a guided walking expedition through its historic district.
Walking Tour of Belgrade
Our journey begins at the designated meeting point, the Monument to Nikola Pašic, a figure of great political importance in the Balkans.
As we proceed on our guided exploration of Belgrade, our first stop will be at Terazije Square. Here, we will pause in front of the notable Moskva Hotel, which has hosted a plethora of distinguished guests, ranging from scientists and politicians to renowned artists and actors.
We will then make our way to Republic Square, where the architectural splendor of the National Theatre and the National Museum awaits our admiration. A leisurely walk will take us along one of the city's most bustling shopping thoroughfares, Knez Mihailo, leading us to the Cathedral Church of St Michael the Archangel, a vital place of worship in the country.
Close to the cathedral lies one of the oldest traditional taverns in Belgrade, intriguingly named "?". Let’s uncover the fascinating origins of this unique name!
Our next destination will be the historic Belgrade Fortress, a citadel with origins tracing back to the 3rd century B.C., strategically situated at the union of the Sava and Danube Rivers. Throughout this segment, our guide will unveil various legendary tales associated with this significant location as we examine the remnants of its ancient walls.
After 2.5 hours of exploration, our adventure culminates in Kalemegdan Park, the largest green space and one of the most significant historical sites in Belgrade.
