Walking Tour of Harvard
At your scheduled time, we will gather at the Harvard metro station, situated at 1376 Massachusetts Ave. Your knowledgeable guides, who are current students, will escort you to the iconic Johnson Gate, one of the key entrances to the campus. Welcome to the premier university globally!
Although the interior of the university's landmark buildings will remain beyond our reach, we will take the opportunity to admire their stunning façades and picturesque grounds.
Our first stop will be the statue of John Harvard, the university's initial benefactor. If you'd like to embrace the experience of a student at this renowned Ivy League institution, be sure to participate in the tradition of touching the foot of the statue for good fortune. Notable figures such as Obama, Kennedy, and Roosevelt have joined this custom!
From there, we will proceed to Memorial Hall, a grand Victorian structure dedicated to the Harvard students who served during the American Civil War. The tour will also include a visit to the Widener Library, the largest library on campus, housing an impressive collection of over three million volumes!
As we continue, we will take in the sights of the Memorial Church and the Harvard Lampoon headquarters, the student publication that first appeared in 1876. Esteemed writers and editors, such as John Updike and Conan O'Brien, began their literary journeys here.
To conclude, we will make our way to the notable Winthrop Park, where our tour will wrap up after approximately one hour and ten minutes.
