Neo-Medieval Fortresses Hike
Description
Venture into the Sierra Bullones and explore the natural divide between Spain and Morocco through this hiking trail that showcases the neo-medieval fortresses of Ceuta. Along the way, you will encounter seven sentinel towers, which have historically marked the boundary between two continents.
Hiking the Neo-Medieval Fortresses
At your preferred time, we will meet you at your accommodation in Ceuta and transport you to the Sierra Bullones to embark on a 6-kilometer hiking adventure. Are you prepared to set off?
As we traverse the seven hills delineating Spain from Morocco, we will uncover the rich history behind the neo-medieval fortifications that crown these heights. Constructed in the mid-1800s following the Spanish triumph against Moroccan forces during the Battle of Wad-Ras, these towers have played a critical role in securing the border.
Throughout our hike, you'll have the chance to observe closely the towers of Piniés, Aranguren, Ányera, Mendizábal, Isabel II, Francisco de Asís and the fort of Príncipe Alfonso. We will navigate an uphill path of moderate intensity that traces the natural frontier between Europe and Africa - an intercontinental trail that offers stunning vistas!
Upon completing our hiking route, we will head back to our vehicles. After a total of three hours of engaging activity, we will return you to your hotel.
