Description
Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Peruvian Andes on this 4-day journey from Cusco to the archaeological site of Choquequirao.
Choquequirao Trek
Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco around 4 to 4:30 am, followed by a scenic drive to San Pedro de Cachora, where our first trekking segment starts. This path, taking about 3 hours, leads us to the Capulliyoq viewpoint, an excellent location to take in the sweeping vistas of the Apurimac River and glimpse the distant Choquequirao ruins.
From this vantage point, we will descend the winding trail to Chiquisca. Here, we will savor lunch and dinner before unwinding for the night.
Day 2: Chiquisca – Santa Rosa – Marampata – Choquequirao
After enjoying breakfast at Chiquisca, our trekking adventure continues on a 5-hour hike that includes two stops: first for lunch in Santa Rosa and then at Marampata, where we will pause to relish the stunning panoramic views from its renowned viewpoint.
Our accommodations for the night will be a hostel in Marampata.
Day 3: Choquequirao
Post breakfast in Marampata, we will hike for around one and a half hours to reach the Choquequirao ruins. This site, often referred to as the "little sister of Machu Picchu", features the remains of temples, storerooms, and various public spaces that offer a captivating glimpse into the history of pre-Columbian Latin America.
In the afternoon, we will return to Marampata for dinner and rest until the following day.
Day 4: Choquequirao – Playa Rosalina – Capulliyoq – Cusco
After breakfast, we'll trek back to Capulliyoq, pausing at Playa Rosalina before continuing to Chikiska for lunch. Our journey proceeds through the Apurimac valley to Capulliyoq, where a vehicle will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
