Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Dambulla, followed by a scenic 40-minute drive leading you to one of Sri Lanka's largest natural environments: Minneriya National Park.
To fully appreciate the diversity within the park, we'll take an exhilarating safari in Minneriya aboard a rugged jeep. Throughout this journey, you will discover intriguing information about the remarkable species residing in this habitat, including the loris monkeys and the Sri Lankan crocodiles.
A brief pause will follow, providing you with the opportunity to enjoy lunch—don’t forget to pack a picnic! Rejuvenated, you'll prepare for one of the safari's highlights: the renowned Minneriya elephants. These majestic animals, with their distinctive trunk and unique ears, represent the Asian elephant, setting them apart from their African counterparts.
After marveling at these incredible elephants, the safari continues with a chance to spot the diverse birdlife in Minneriya. Look out for herons, pelicans, and ibises, often seen refreshing themselves in the park's lakes and aquifers, alongside the impressive buffaloes.
The jeep safari concludes at the park's entrance. From there, a minibus will take you back to your hotel in Dambulla, with the entire experience lasting approximately 5 hours.
