Boat Trip to Granadilla
Are you prepared to explore one of the most stunning and intriguing abandoned sites in Extremadura? At the designated time, make your way to the Centro Internacional de Innovación Deportiva-El Anillo and board a boat for a scenic ride on the Gabriel y Galán Reservoir.
As you glide over the water, enjoy the picturesque landscape surrounding the reservoir and spot various bird species that call this area home. After a relaxing 30-minute journey, you'll reach your destination: Granadilla.
Upon arrival, you will have 2.5 hours to independently discover this medieval walled settlement. This ghost town served as one of the filming locations for the Spanish film Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! ("¡Átame!" in Spanish), directed by Pedro Almódovar and featuring Antonio Banderas.
Granadilla became abandoned in the mid-20th century due to flood risks posed by construction projects linked to the reservoir. You will have the opportunity to wander through this Historic-Artistic Site and admire significant structures, including the town hall and the Church of the Assumption. Additionally, you will see the historic Granadilla Castle, which dates back to the 15th century.
Finally, it will be time to board the boat again for the return trip, concluding your memorable adventure after a total of 3.5 hours.
