Etna Day Trip
Description
Embark on a journey to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Prepare to discover breathtaking landscapes, volcanic formations, and panoramic vistas that will leave you in awe!
Tour Overview
We will convene at Piazza Pantheon in Syracuse at the scheduled time to commence our expedition to Mount Etna. The drive will last approximately 1.5 hours, during which we will pause at several scenic viewpoints for the perfect opportunity to capture stunning photographs of the surrounding beauty.
Upon reaching an elevation of 2,000 meters (6,561 feet), our exploration of this magnificent volcano will begin. You will gain insights into its intriguing history, its natural resources, and the impact of past eruptions. We will also explore extinct craters, which demonstrate the impressive power of nature.
Following this, we will embark on a guided hike through the pathways of Etna Park. Alternatively, if you wish, you may opt for an additional tour with a professional mountaineer and dedicated transport to the summit crater area, located at an altitude of 3,000 meters (9,842 feet).
After our hiking adventure, some free time for lunch will be provided. Following around 3 hours on Etna, we will proceed to explore a lava cave. This will involve equipping ourselves with helmets and flashlights to delve into these fascinating volcanic structures — an experience that promises to be unforgettable.
Before our return to Syracuse, we will stop at a local farm where you'll have the chance to savor a delightful tasting of honey, wine, oil, and other regional specialties.
Ultimately, we will head back to Syracuse and conclude our journey at the designated meeting point after spending a total of 8 enriching hours together.
