Your journey begins by meeting your guide at the prominent chessboard situated in Praza Maior, the main square of Lugo and home to the Concello, or town hall.

From this central point, you will embark on your guided walking experience towards Saint Mary's Cathedral, a majestic religious structure that dates back to the 12th century. This remarkable church is a significant location on the Camino Primitivo pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Inside, you will have the chance to appreciate various artistic and architectural styles that narrate its extensive history, ranging from Romanesque to Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical. Be sure to explore chapels dedicated to San Froilán and the Virgin with Big Eyes, the revered patron saints of Lugo.

Just a short walk from the cathedral, you will visit Lugo's Roman walls. This city is unique, as it is the only one in the world fully encircled by well-preserved Roman walls. Here, you will have the chance to stroll beside these ancient fortifications while learning about the history of Lucus Augusti, the site of the original settlement that evolved into modern Lugo. The impressive condition of these 3rd-century stone walls has earned them the designation of UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Your tour continues at the Domus Do Mitreo Museum, constructed atop the archaeological remains of a Roman temple dedicated to a lesser-known deity. This cutting-edge museum, managed by the University of Santiago de Compostela, offers an excellent opportunity to explore Lugo's Roman heritage beyond its celebrated walls.

We will meander through the city's historic center, visiting key plazas: Plaza de Santo Domingo, Plaza del Campo, Plaza de Campo Castelo, and concluding at Plaza Mayor.

Tour Options

When making a reservation, you can select one of the following formats:

• Tour without Tickets: This option includes a guided exterior tour of the monuments, without access to their interiors. The duration is 1.5 hours.
• Tour with Tickets: Opting for this choice allows you to enter the cathedral and the Domus de Mitreo Museum, excluding Mondays when the museum is closed, in which case you will have access to the towers of the cathedral. This tour lasts 2 hours.

Domus Do Mitreo Museum

The Domus Do Mitreo Museum is closed every Monday and on certain national holidays. Therefore, please be aware that the tour option including tickets is unavailable on these dates.
