At the agreed-upon time, we will gather at the Astronomical Clock to embark on our private exploration of Cangas de Morrazo, where we'll uncover both historical and contemporary aspects of this vibrant municipality in Rías Baixas.
The architectural charm of Cangas is intricately linked to its maritime heritage. Among our stops is the house of Patín, where we will take a moment to sit on its steps—historically a favored spot for fishermen to repair their nets. Here, we’ll also share intriguing stories regarding the town's association with witches.
As we continue through Cangas de Morrazo, you will encounter an abundance of picturesque streets and squares within the old town, leading us toward the Ex-collegiate Church of Santiago. A visit to the Outeiro neighbourhood, the town’s highest point, will reveal insights into the Celtic influence on the area.
In the latter part of our journey, we will delve into the 19th and 20th centuries to explore Cangas’s transformation into a flourishing industrial hub driven by the canning industry.
