Details of the Day Trip
Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Barranquilla at the scheduled time. From there, we will travel eastward by minibus to Santa Marta, recognized as one of the earliest settlements in America.
The journey, approximately 2 hours long, includes a refreshing onboard breakfast featuring a sandwich and juice, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead. Upon reaching Santa Marta, our first destination will be the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, where Simón Bolívar spent his final moments. You will have the chance to explore its beautiful gardens and historical rooms while gaining insights into this significant local figure.
Following this, we will make our way to the Taganga viewpoint. Here, you will be captivated by the stunning panorama of Samaria Bay and the majestic mountains that encircle Santa Marta—perfect for capturing memorable photographs! We will then descend toward Santa Marta Bay and embark on a tour of the old town, immersing ourselves in its history and traditions.
As we navigate through colorful streets vibrant with culture, our visit will include the Cathedral Basilica of Santa Marta, lauded as the oldest cathedral in South America. Next, we will stop at the Tairona Gold Museum, situated in the Casa de la Aduana, to delve into the region's rich indigenous and colonial past.
At lunchtime, we will savor a delightful meal at a local restaurant, where an array of traditional Colombian dishes awaits. Satisfied and energized, we will then venture into the Rodadero area, diving into the intriguing history behind this well-known tourist destination.
To cap off this enriching day, we will transport you to the tranquil beaches of Bello Horizonte. Here, you will enjoy 2 hours of leisure, allowing you to unwind in the serene Caribbean waters and bask on the soft white sands.
