Details of the Day Trip

Your adventure begins with a timely pickup at your hotel in Tozeur or Nefta, after which we will embark on a fascinating exploration of Tunisia's most renowned mountain oases and desert filming sites.

Our first destination is the breathtaking Chebika Oasis, a hanging oasis known for its clear-water waterfall and panoramic views. Once a Berber settlement referred to as the "Palace of the Sun," Chebika is noted as the most celebrated mountain oasis in southern Tunisia. Here, we will spend 45 minutes to 1 hour walking by the river, navigating the trail to the natural spring, and enjoying a refreshing shower under the waterfall, all while taking in views of Chott El Gharsa.

Next, we travel to the Tamerza Oasis, recognized as the largest mountain oasis in Tunisia. Within approximately 20 minutes, we will arrive at this oasis that showcases a breathtaking canyon and cascading waterfalls. As you capture images of the splendid landscape and revel in the tranquil ambiance, we will pause to enjoy a traditional lunch featuring a starter of soup and salad, followed by Tunisian couscous or meat slow-cooked in a gargoulette as the main course. For dessert, enjoy seasonal fruits, including Tozeur's famous dates. Our time in the Tamerza Oasis will last about 30 to 45 minutes.

Afterward, we will take a short 15-minute drive to Midès, located on the brink of stunning gorges. Here, we will take around 30 minutes to wander through this charming village, soaking in the canyon vistas and sampling fresh local dates.

The journey continues with an exhilarating off-road drive across the salt flats of Chott El Gharsa, where we will visit iconic filming locations featured in The English Patient. The surreal lunar-like landscapes here will astonish you! Following this, we will reach Onng Jmal, a mythical desert locale characterized by its unique rock formations, reminiscent of Mars. This location has been the backdrop for numerous international film productions, and we will spend around 1.5 hours exploring these two remarkable sites.

Concluding our day, we will travel for about 15 minutes to Mos Espa, the filming site of Star Wars. After exploring this famous location, you will have the chance to witness a breathtaking sunset over the golden dunes of the Sahara. Following an hour at this remarkable site, we will drive back to your hotel, bringing our enriching 8-hour adventure to a close.
