Nuremberg World War II Tour
Description
Delve into the historical significance of Nuremberg during WWII on this enlightening excursion, where you'll visit key locations such as the Nazi rally grounds and the Palace of Justice, renowned for hosting the Nuremberg Trials.
Tour Overview
Upon arrival at your chosen meeting point, we will commence our Nuremberg tour. Throughout this journey, you will gain insights into the pivotal events that transpired in this city during and post-World War II.
Our initial stop is the Reichsparteigelände, the historic grounds used for Nazi party rallies situated in the southeast of Nuremberg. Here, the remnants of imposing structures remain, serving as powerful symbols of the era's ideological dominance. This extensive site covers approximately 10 square kilometers (4 square miles), ingeniously designed to showcase the might of the Nazi regime to both Germany and the wider world.
Following this, we will explore the Zeppelinfeld, another major gathering point for large rallies, where the weight of history still resonates. Recognized as a protected monument since 1973, this site illustrates the architectural grandeur of the Nazi Party while standing as a somber testament to its dark past.
Our journey will culminate at the Nuremberg Palace of Justice, the venue where the notorious Major War Criminals Trial occurred under the auspices of the International Military Tribunal from November 20, 1945, to October 1, 1946. The decision to carry out the trials in the Nuremberg Palace of Justice was particularly poignant, given the city's history as a hub for Nazi rallies. You may find yourself wondering about the significance of Courtroom 600 and its place in this critical moment of history.
After an engaging 3-hour experience, we'll conclude the tour, leaving you with a deeper appreciation of Nuremberg's complex past.
