Pyramids of Güímar Tickets
Description
Tenerife boasts a variety of intriguing archaeological locations, with the Pyramids of Güímar standing out due to their mystery. Unravel their mysteries by taking advantage of skip-the-line entry to the ethnographic park.
Overview
Situated within its namesake municipality, the Pyramids of Güímar represent one of the most captivating ethnographic parks on the island of Tenerife.
Initially, it was believed that these tiered structures were erected by the indigenous people of the Canary Islands, known as the Guanches. However, recent studies indicate that these pyramidal formations originated in the 19th century, prompting further inquiries: who constructed them and what was their purpose?
Your journey through the ethnographic park offers the chance to delve deeper into the history of the pyramids at the Casa Chacona Museum. Here, you can also access the expedition room and a cozy auditorium where you can watch a documentary detailing the extensive research conducted by Thor Heyerdahl, the park's founder.
Additionally, the Pyramids of Güímar feature a botanical garden. Within the Sustainable Garden, a recreation of a typical Canarian ravine showcases local flora, while the Poisonous Garden fascinates visitors with over 70 species of toxic plants sourced from various regions around the globe.

Information on the conservation of the Pyramids of Güímar
According to the sustainability policy that is implemented in the gardens of the park, the main idea is permaculture, that is to say, the responsible use of the land. In this sense, at some point it could be observed that some areas seem dry, but, in fact, they are not dry, but are in a process of dormancy. This is a strategy of many plant species that allows them to survive when climatic conditions are not appropriate for growth, such as during the dry season. Plant residues on the ground, such as fallen leaves, can also be found at times because they serve as a natural fertilizer for the soil.
