A Bit of History

Fernando Alonso Diaz, born on July 29, 1981, in Oviedo, displayed exceptional talent in racing from an early age, winning the Asturian Children's Karting Championship in both 1988 and 1989.

His progression in motorsport was swift, becoming the World Karting Champion in 1996. Just a few years later, in 2001, he entered the world of Formula 1.

His most remarkable accomplishments occurred in the mid-2000s, securing the Formula 1 World Championship titles in 2005 and 2006, instilling pride across his nation. Notably, in 2005, he was honored with the Prince of Asturias Award for Sports.

The groundwork for the museum, celebrating his career, was laid in 2008, leading to its opening on June 26, 2015. Today, the Fernando Alonso Museum and Circuit stands as a must-see destination for Formula 1 aficionados.
