Have you ever explored the Queen of the Alps? Embark on a day trip to Mount Rigi and experience its stunning sceneries through a combination of boat, rack railway, and cable car.

Details of the Day Trip

We'll gather at pier 1 on Lake Lucerne at the scheduled time. Our adventure begins with a relaxing boat journey across Lake Lucerne.

After an hour of sailing, we will arrive at the pier in Vitznau. Here, we will step aboard the oldest rack railway in Europe, established in 1871. This remarkable ride lasts just over thirty minutes, culminating at Rigi Kulm Station, perched at an elevation of 1,797 meters (5,895 feet) above sea level.

Upon arrival, you will have 2 hours of leisure time on Mount Rigi. This is perfect for enjoying lunch and soaking in the spectacular panoramas of the Swiss Alps lakes and mountains. After our free time, we will reconvene at Rigi Kulm Station to take the rack railway to Rigi Kaltbad, a scenic mountain community that prohibits motor vehicles.

Feel free to wander through this enchanting area, with the Känzeli lookout point being a key highlight. Following this breathtaking experience, we will meet at Rigi Kaltbad Station to catch a cable car to Weggis. Nestled on the banks of Lake Lucerne, Weggis has been lauded by American author Mark Twain as the "most charming place" in the world.

To wrap up our journey, we will make our way back by boat from Weggis to one of the docks in Lucerne harbour, concluding this enriching 10-hour experience.

Service Notifications

Be advised of partial closures on April 1 and 2, 2026, from November 16 to 27, 2026, and between March 8 and 31, 2027, when the cable car will be undergoing maintenance. During these times, both the ascent and descent will be via the rack railway.
