Chichén Itzá & Xcajum Cenote Day Trip
Description
Embark on a guided day excursion to Chichén Itzá, where you will explore significant sites such as El Castillo, the Temple of the Warriors, and the Caracol Observatory, immersing yourself in one of the most vital ancient Maya cities. Additionally, take a refreshing swim in the Xcajum Cenote.
Details of the Day Trip
Your journey begins with a convenient pickup at Paseo 60 in the heart of Mérida, from where we will travel to the historic Mayan site of Chichén Itzá, situated approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes away.
Upon our arrival at Chichén Itzá, we will commence a 1-hour guided exploration of the archaeological marvels. Witness the magnificent pyramid dedicated to the God Kukulkán, often referred to as El Castillo by Spanish explorers. Alongside your knowledgeable guide, you will uncover the mysteries surrounding the temple that played a central role in the spiritual life of the city.
Your journey continues as we delve into the Temple of the Warriors, a pyramid encircled by a remarkable array of columns adorned with fierce battle scenes. Other noteworthy structures await your discovery, including El Osario, which houses a cave, and the Caracol Observatory, a circular edifice that reflects the Mayans' sophisticated understanding of astronomy. Following this, you will enjoy an hour of free time to explore the site at your leisure and capture memorable photographs.
Next, we will travel to the Xcajum Cenote, where you will spend 2 hours. Take advantage of the opportunity to refresh yourself in the clear waters, so don’t forget to bring a swimming suit and towel. Following your swim, savor a buffet-style lunch featuring local specialties, including options like roasted chicken or pork, rice, beans, and handmade tortillas.
Concluding your adventure, we will return to Mérida where we will part ways approximately 9 to 10 hours after our departure.
