Colonial Architecture Tour
Description
Embark on an enriching adventure to discover the Mixteca region, where we delve into the rich heritage and architectural splendor of the area, complemented by the breathtaking natural scenery that surrounds it.
Colonial Architecture Exploration
Naturally, we'll begin with the pickup from your downtown Oaxaca hotel at the designated time, initiating our journey to the first destination: the Ex-Convent of San Juan Bautista Coixtlahuaca.
Once we arrive, prepare to be mesmerized by the delicate, serpentine motifs that embellish both the exterior and interior of the church. Our next stop features one of the most remarkable religious sites in Oaxaca, the Ex-Convent of San Pedro and San Pablo Teposcolula. Located in the beautiful town of Teposcolula, recognized as one of the magic towns of Oaxaca, we will explore its impressive open chapel, noted as the largest in all of Latin America.
Your journey continues to the picturesque village of San Pedro Yucunama, where meandering along cobblestone avenues will allow you to take in the exquisite historical architecture, evoking a sense of nostalgia. Here, we will also gain insight into the traditions and customs that the local community continues to uphold.
As our exploration concludes, we will visit a local artisan family from the Mixtec region, who graciously invite us into their home for a captivating display of palm craft artistry. This unique encounter presents a valuable chance to appreciate the remarkable workmanship and creativity of these skilled artisans.
Ultimately, we will return to Oaxaca, where you will be dropped off at your hotel after an engaging 9-hour experience.
