Experience the grandeur of the largest ancient castle globally during our informative free tour of Prague Castle. This guided journey will allow you to explore its ecclesiastical edifices, expansive courtyards, and regal palaces while delving into a thousand years of Czech heritage.

Prague Castle Free Tour

We will meet you at the Malostranská Metro Station at the designated time. From there, we will board a tram to Poho?elec to begin our free exploration of Prague Castle.

Upon arrival, we will make a brief stop at the statue honoring astronomers Tycho Brahe and Johannes Kepler. Next, you will have the chance to gaze upon Strahov Monastery in the distance as we share the fascinating history of this splendid 12th-century abbey.

Our journey continues with a look at the remarkable Czernin Palace, recognized as the grandest Baroque palace in the city. For those intrigued by religious history, a visit to Loreto, a pilgrimage site adorned with chapels, will certainly captivate you.

After that, we shall proceed to the expansive Castle District Square, where we will delve into the stories behind the Toscan Palace, Carmelite Church of St. Benedict, and Schwarzenberg Palace. During our time here, we will also discuss the Salm Palace, the Archbishop Palace, and the Sternberg Palace, all while enjoying picturesque views of the enchanting city of Prague.

As noon approaches, prepare for a remarkable event: the Changing of the Castle Guards. This daily ceremony, accompanied by music, offers a unique spectacle. We will then observe the castle's first courtyard from the exterior before moving through the second, third, and fourth courtyards as well.

The next highlight of our tour involves entering the accessible section of St. Vitus Cathedral. This stunning Roman Catholic Cathedral, which serves as the Archbishop's seat, is a magnificent representation of Gothic architecture.

After visiting St. Vitus Cathedral, we will explore the exteriors of both the Old Royal Palace and St. George's Basilica, the latter being the oldest church building still standing in the castle complex, established in 920.

We will then conclude our itinerary with Rosenberg Palace and Lobkowicz Palace. In the winter months, we will discuss the Lobkowicz Palace while admiring the Southern Gardens from the charming Golden Lane and the striking Black Tower. Conversely, during the summer season, we will have the opportunity to explore the Southern Gardens directly.

As our tour comes to an end, we will part ways approximately two hours after our initial meeting. For summer attendees, we will conclude our cultural experience in the Southern Gardens with insights into the 3rd Defenestration of Prague. In contrast, winter guests will say their goodbyes near the Castle Steps next to the historic 10th-century Wenceslas Vineyards, offering breathtaking views of the city.

The itinerary for our tour may adjust depending on the season due to potential site closures. Our seasonal timings are as follows:

• Winter season: 1 November to 31 March.
