This experience invites you to explore the scenic Georgian Military Road leading to the historic Ananuri Castle, the tranquil Jinvali Water Reservoir, and the picturesque village of Kazbegi nestled in the heart of the Caucasus Mountains.

Day Trip to Kazbegi & Ananuri Castle

Upon gathering at the Avlabari metro station at the scheduled time, we will embark on our journey northwards along the striking Georgian Military Road, a pathway that traverses the majestic Caucasus mountain range.

After approximately ninety minutes on the road, our first destination will be the stunning Jinvali Water Reservoir. The brilliant turquoise waters here create a striking contrast against the verdant backdrop of the surrounding mountains. Following this, we will make our way to the fortress of Ananuri, a historic stronghold perched above the Aragvi River, which has been the site of various significant battles in medieval times.

At midday, you’ll have some leisure time in Pasanauri to enjoy lunch at your own pace, offering an excellent opportunity to sample local specialties. We highly recommend trying khinkali, the renowned dumplings that are a hallmark of this area.

After your meal, we will continue our journey by stopping at the Russia - Georgia Friendship Monument. This impressive stone and concrete edifice overlooks the remarkable Devil's Valley and was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Treaty of Georgievsk.

Next, we will proceed to Kazbegi, a village that attracts many visitors due to its stunning location amidst the breathtaking Caucasus mountains. Here, you have the option to take a 4x4 excursion to the renowned Gergeti Trinity Church, a breathtaking structure set on a hill, offering spectacular views of Mount Kazbeg, which rises over 5,000 meters above sea level.

The final segment of our tour will bring us to the luxurious Rooms Hotel Kazbegi, where you can relish incredible vistas of Stepantsminda. After a fulfilling 12-hour experience, we will return to the meeting point to conclude our journey.

Changes to Itinerary

During the winter months from December to March, the visit to the Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument will be substituted with a stop at the Gudauri ski resort.

If unfavorable weather conditions impede access to the Gergeti Trinity Church, additional time will be allocated at the Gudauri ski resort instead.
