At the designated time, we will meet at Campo San Zaccaria to commence our guided tour of St. Mark's Basilica. Prepare to discover one of Venice's most famous religious sites.

Throughout the tour, we will explore the Ascension Dome mosaics and uncover the various scenes they represent. These mosaics undoubtedly take center stage within the Basilica.

Entering through the grand portals of this iconic cathedral, visitors are often awed by the shimmering golden mosaics that cover over 8,000 square meters (86,111 square feet), which depict biblical stories and tales from Venice's rich history.

Important information

On the day of the activity, please go to the meeting point, which depends on which option you've selected:

  • If you've selected the Basilica, Terrace & Museum Tour from Campo San Zaccaria: we'll meet at 4683/g in Campo de San Zaccaria, in front of the store on the opposite side of the church. We'll be waiting for you with a yellow sign that says “Meeting point”.
  • If you've selected the Main Nave Tour from Calle Larga Ascensione: we'll meet at Calle Larga Ascensione, in front of the post office. From Piazza San Marco. you must pass underneath the arch where it says "Museo Correr". There, you'll find the post office "Poste Italiane" At this point, someone will be waiting for you, holding a sign that reads "Góndola Tour” to complete the check-in process. At this link you can see the exact location of the meeting point.
  • If you have selected the tour of the Main Nave from Campo San Zaccaria: we'll meet at number 4683/g in Campo San Zaccaria, in front of the shop opposite the church. We'll be waiting for you with a yellow sign that says "Meeting point".

Please make sure you go to the right meeting point. In both cases, please arrive 15 minutes in advance.

Security Controls

It isn't permitted to enter the Basilica with large bags or backpacks: there is a free locker on Calle San Basso. Conservative clothing is recommended; if your clothing is inappropriate, you'll have to pay 2 Euros to rent a cape to enter.

Tickets

If you choose the option that only includes the "Main Nave", please note that entrance tickets to the terrace, the museum and the Pala de Oro are not included in this visit. The only way to purchase them is through the Basilica's official website: https://basilicasanmarco.skiperformance.com/en/store#/en/buy?skugroup_id=2524. It's important to know that individual tickets are no longer sold. Therefore, if you have opted for the "Main Nave" option, you'll need to purchase a new cumulative ticket that also includes the ground floor.

Itinerary Changes

Due to changes in operation, the skip-the-line service is temporarily suspended, and therefore all visitors will have to wait in line to enter the basilica.

From Monday to Saturday, the entrance will be on the ground floor of the basilica (the Pala d'Oro will be visible in the distance). Then, you'll go up to the upper floor to visit the museum, where you'll also be able to see the mosaics, after which you can go outside onto the terrace.

On Sundays and public holidays, visitors will enter directly from the upper floor to visit the museum and the outdoor terrace. The first floor will not be visited, as it is where mass takes place. On these days, it will not be possible to see the Pala d'Oro or the mosaics.
