Ferry to Ons Island
Description
Explore the enchanting Ons Island through this ferry service from Vigo and immerse yourself in a breathtaking natural environment filled with scenic trails and unspoiled beaches.
Accessing Ons Island
Departing from the port of Vigo, board a ferry that will take you to Ons Island, located within the Atlantic Islands Natural Park. This safeguarded region boasts stunning landscapes and has been inhabited since ancient times. The current villages are renowned for their delicious cuisine and enduring cultural traditions.
After approximately an hour of sailing, you will have the entire day to traverse the island's hiking paths that lead through hills and caves. Be sure to visit the island's lighthouse, which ranks among the tallest in Spain, and indulge in the local dishes served at the eateries, alongside enjoying the crystal-clear waters and inviting beaches that captivate many visitors.
Permits for Travel
As a protected area, Ons Island enforces a daily limit on visitor numbers. To gain access to the island, you will need prior authorization from the Xunta de Galicia.
Please note that from May 15 to September 15 and during Easter, you must possess a permit issued by the Xunta de Galicia to enter Ons Island. This will be emailed to you swiftly. Outside these periods, you will not receive a permit since the guide will have it on the day of the visit.
If someone in your party is unable to attend for any reason, kindly inform us at least 15 days in advance so the Xunta de Galicia can update their records accordingly.
