Half-Day Excursion to Rhine Falls
Upon departure from Zurich at the designated time, you will venture into the picturesque landscapes of northern Switzerland.
After a 40-minute journey that passes through vineyards and charming villages, your first destination will be the Laufen Castle, a historic fortress that provides stunning views of the Rhine Falls. Spanning 150 meters (490 ft) in width and reaching a height of 23 meters (75 ft), the Rhine Falls stands as Europe’s largest waterfall and a key highlight in Switzerland.
You will be afforded approximately an hour of leisure time to wander around Rhine Falls and partake in various activities available. We will get as close as possible to these magnificent waterfalls while sharing insights into their formation and history.
After enjoying your time at Rhine Falls, the return leg of your journey will take you through the delightful town of Schaffhausen, where you can view the 16th-century Munot Fortress, a circular castle. Your route will then briefly cross into Germany before concluding your trip back in Zurich.
Optional Cruise at the Waterfalls
If you visit between April and October, and weather conditions permit, you may choose to partake in an optional boat ride through the Rhine Falls. The tickets for this adventure are priced at 12CHF for adults, 8CHF for children aged 6 to 15 years, and free for those under 6. Please keep in mind that the boat entrance is not suitable for strollers or individuals with mobility impairments.

Don't forget to bring your valid passport on the day of your tour, as it is required to cross the border from Switzerland into Germany.

Meeting Point
The tour will start at the designated time at the Sihlquai bus station parking lot, located at the following address in Zurich: Limmatstrasse 2 (in front of the Hotel Fred). Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Upon arrival, check in at the “Best of Switzerland Tours" ticket office.
Meeting Point Directions
To get to the Sihlquai parking lot by public transport, you can take the streetcar. Lines 4, 6 and 13 will leave you at the stop called Sihlquai / HB. The Central Train Station (Zürich Hauptbahnhof) is only a 10-minute walk from the Sihlquai parking lot.

Important Info
Remember to bring your valid passport on the day of the tour: you'll need it to cross the border between Switzerland and Germany.
You'll also be given a copy of our insurance terms and conditions which you'll be asked to read and sign.
Recommended Gear
We suggest wearing hiking boots and a waterproof and windproof jacket, as well as warm clothes (especially in the winter).
Waterfall Cruise
Between April and October, you can take an optional boat trip through the Rhine Falls (it does not depend on the weather conditions but on the season). The ticket price for this trip is 12CHF for adults, 8CHF for children from 6 to 15 years old and free for children under 6. Please note that the entrance to the boat is not accessible for baby prams or people with reduced mobility.
