Laguna de Salinas Day Trip

Your excursion begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Arequipa between 6:00 and 6:30 am. From there, we will embark on our adventure toward the Laguna de Salinas, also referred to as Lake Salinas in English, situated at the boundary of the Salinas & Aguada Blanca Natural Reserve.

We'll make a stop in Chiguata, a traditional village, where you can enjoy a continental breakfast featuring juice, mate or coffee, cereals, and toast.

As we journey through this spectacular landscape, we will uncover the unique flora and fauna that characterize the Arequipa region.

Look up and behold the towering presence of the imposing Misti Volcano, one of the ten active volcanoes in the area. Throughout our exploration, we will navigate an Andean forest composed of small trees and bushes, locally known as queñuales!

Upon arriving at the Laguna de Salinas, you will witness its varying landscapes: if the lake is parched, it appears as white as snow, while in wetter conditions, you’ll observe the impressive salt deposits that form around it. Additionally, as we take in the stunning vistas, you might encounter the local alpacas and llamas that are native to this region. Did you know that three types of flamingos can also be spotted here?

You will have the chance to explore the surrounding areas of the lagoon and the Lojen volcano, as well as some natural thermal baths. Following our hike, you will have free time for lunch before we head back to Arequipa.

Your journey will conclude at your hotel around 4:30 pm.
