Mount Etna + Volcanic Caves Hiking Tour

Join us on an exciting adventure from Catania, as we embark on a hike around Mount Etna, renowned for its fascinating volcanic caves. This experience offers a unique opportunity to delve into the depths of one of the world's most iconic volcanoes while gaining insights into the field of volcanology.

Hiking Overview

We will gather at Piazza Paolo Borsellino at the scheduled time and board a bus that will take us away from Catania, venturing into increasingly rugged terrains. The majestic Mount Etna stands ready for exploration!

After approximately an hour’s travel, we'll arrive at the volcano's slope, where our hike begins. At this point, we will equip you with all necessary gear for our 2.5-hour trek, showcasing the stunning vistas offered by Europe's tallest active volcano. Our path will lead us around secondary craters, across vast stretches of black lava, and into genuine volcanic sand landscapes.

As we trek through Etna, we will navigate forests, pass by secondary craters, walk across black sand deserts, and witness deep ravines alongside ancient lava flows.

During our journey, we will dedicate half an hour to exploring one of the intriguing volcanic tubes of Etna. Venturing underground will unveil remarkable insights into the world of volcanology.

As our exploration concludes, we'll exit the cave, return to the bus, and head back to Catania, wrapping up this enriching experience after a total of 5.5 hours back at our starting location.

If desired, you may opt for an evening hike, allowing you to immerse in the captivating aura of Mount Etna at sunset. Kicking off at 4:30 pm, this memorable expedition promises an enchanting encounter with the stunning sunset over the remarkable Etna volcano. Get ready to be captivated by the vivid hues and tranquil ambiance as we uncover the extraordinary landscapes.
