Excursion to Chania, Lake Kournas & Rethymno

Our day begins at 7:30 am, meeting at the designated spot in Malia. From this point, we will embark on our exploration of the enchanting landscapes of western Crete, uncovering its hidden gems.

Our first stop will be Chania, often referred to as the 'mother of the Cretan cities' by ancient historians. As we stroll through the Old City, admire the picturesque harbor, historical Venetian fortifications, and the unique Turkish mosques. In the modern section of Chania, you’ll have the opportunity to savor local delicacies and shop for unique souvenirs in the vibrant local market.

After enjoying Chania for an hour and a half, we will make our way to Lake Kournas, one of Crete's most stunning treasures. You’ll have two hours of leisure to discover this serene freshwater lake, nourished by underground springs from the Lefka Ori mountain range. Here, you can take a refreshing dip in the lake and enjoy a meal at a nearby restaurant.

At around 4:15 pm, we will reconvene and proceed to our final stop, Rethymno. Upon arrival, we will meander through this charming Cretan city, highlighting remarkable sights such as a 16th-century Venetian fortress, the Rimondi Fountain, and the elegant Venetian Loggia.

The tour of western Crete will conclude at approximately 7:30 pm, returning to the meeting point in Malia.
