Positioned in Veytaux, Chillon Castle is considered one of the key attractions in the Swiss canton of Vaud.
Your ticket grants you access to an English guide, enabling you to thoroughly navigate the 36 rooms of the fortress at your own pace, ensuring you don’t overlook any details. Within certain areas, you can also enjoy brief video projections lasting only 6 minutes that narrate the rich history of this renowned Swiss stronghold.
A visit would be incomplete without exploring the dungeons of Chillon Castle, whose design evokes the grandeur of 13th-century Gothic cathedrals. In 1290, Peter II of Savoy, famously known as Little Charlemagne, commissioned the construction of a prison within this subterranean section of the castle.
While you wander through the castle, you will uncover intriguing facts, particularly about its placement on an oval limestone outcrop that extends into Lake Geneva. You will also encounter various legends of Chillon Castle, including those associated with a famous poem penned by Lord Byron.

Chillon Castle welcomes visitors daily during the following hours:
- April to September: from 9 am to 7 pm (last entry at 6 pm)
- November to February (closed on January 1 and December 25): from 10 am to 5 pm (last entry at 4 pm)
- March and October: from 9:30 am to 6 pm (last entry at 5 pm)

Reduced rate admission
When booking, you have the option to choose a reduced-rate ticket. This discount is applicable specifically for students, apprentices, seniors over 60, disability insurance recipients, and Swiss military personnel in uniform. Proof of eligibility must be presented by all qualifying visitors.

The castle is located at the following address: Avenue de Chillon, 21; CH 1820 Veytaux, Suisse. To access the monument, all you have to do is show this voucher at the main entrance.
The Chillon Castle is open daily at the following times:
- April to September: from 9 am to 7 pm (last access at 6 pm)
- November to February (closed on January 1 and December 25): from 10 am to 5 pm (last access at 4 pm)
- March and October: from 9:30 am to 6 pm (last access at 5 pm)

How to get to the castle?
By car
A9 highway, Montreux or Villeneuve exit. The Château de Chillon™ is located on the edge of the lake between Montreux (4 km) and Villeneuve (2 km).
By train
The Veytaux-Chillon train station is located just a five-minute walk from the castle.
Reduced rate admission
When you make your reservation, you can opt for a reduced-rate ticket. This type of ticket only applies to students, apprentices, seniors over 60, disability insurance beneficiaries and Swiss military personnel in uniform. All must show proof of eligibility.
People with reduced mobility
The castle is not adapted for visitors in wheelchairs. However, in the cafeteria, there are two audiovisual terminals at your disposal that will allow you to take a virtual tour of the castle through 8 thematic mini-movies. There are also toilets for people with reduced mobility, available on request.
Baby strollers/pushchairs
Strollers are not allowed inside the castle. During the visit, strollers must be left in the cafeteria. This area is not guarded, so we recommend that you use baby carriers instead. Baby changing tables are not available.

In accordance with current regulations, appropriate attire is required. People wearing swimsuits or those without a shirt and/or shoes will be denied entry.
