Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup at 9:30 am, followed by our journey to Cumbemayo. This archaeological gem features a striking collection of massive stone monoliths referred to as frailones. Dating back to approximately 1000 BC, this site showcases structures that have stood for over 3,000 years.

We will kick off our exploration at the Cumbemayo Aqueduct, a remarkable example of hydraulic engineering from the pre-Columbian times. Notably, water continues to flow along this 6-mile (9-kilometer) aqueduct, a testament to its enduring design. Throughout our visit, we will delve into the aqueduct's enigmatic purpose, which remains a subject of speculation.

Interestingly, the ample water resources in the Cajamarca region suggest that an aqueduct might not have been a practical necessity. Historians postulate that the true significance lies with a nearby sanctuary, characterized by a large rock resembling a human head, where ancient rituals, including human sacrifices, reportedly took place. Additionally, we will explore adjacent caves adorned with mysterious engravings, the meanings of which remain undisclosed.

Before we return to your hotel, we will pause at the Bellavista viewpoint, offering breathtaking panoramas of the scenic Cajamarca Valley.
