Journey to the Covadonga Lakes
Prepare for an unforgettable experience as we convene at the Llerado Street parking area in Cangas de Onís. Board our comfortable vehicle designed for small groups and set off to explore the remarkable scenery of the Picos de Europa National Park.
Over the course of 3.5 hours, you will discover the breathtaking Covadonga, Enol, and Ercina lakes, situated amidst towering mountains at an elevation of 1100 meters. Gain insights into the geological history of these landscapes while enjoying plenty of opportunities to appreciate the views and capture stunning photographs with the lakes as your backdrop. Our journey will emphasize the natural beauty and wildlife of this enchanting region.
Our next destination will be Vega de Enol, the home of the famous Gamoneu cheese. Here, we'll explore the interplay between extensive livestock farming and mountain habitats, witnessing firsthand how the shepherds craft this delightful cheese.
Continuing on, we will stop at the Mirador de la Reina, a viewpoint that offers breathtaking panoramas. With binoculars and telescopes on hand, you'll have the chance to spot magnificent birds of prey, such as vultures, golden eagles, and bearded vultures. Learn about the fascinating project aimed at reintroducing bearded vultures and uncover the history behind their compelling name.
Throughout our excursion, we will also discuss the diverse range of wildlife residing in the park, including bears, wolves, and chamois. As our adventure concludes, we will return you to the initial meeting point, leaving you with lasting memories of this extraordinary experience.
