Join us at 9:30 am at the Marta Barata Studio, which serves as both a shop and school in Peso da Régua, the venue for our tile painting workshop.

Dating back to the 15th century, the Arabic influence popularized Al-zuleique tiles in Portugal. These decorative tiles began to embellish numerous convents, palaces, residences, and gardens, marking their significance in Portuguese architecture. Before we begin our artistic journey, you will observe a curated selection of tiles showcasing various styles: figurative, ornamental, and patterned.

After immersing ourselves in the rich history of this craft, we will dive into the painting process. Once you complete your artwork, it will be placed in the kiln for firing, concluding the workshop. Should you prefer, arrangements can be made to have your tiles delivered to your home.
