Day Trip to Funzi Island

Embark on a journey through time with this day trip to Funzi Island, renowned for its stunning mangrove forests and characterized by a lack of electricity and paved roads. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life!

Description

At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your accommodation in Diani to commence our day trip to Funzi Island. The route will take us past the charming village of Shirazi as we travel towards Bodo. Throughout this 40-minute ride, you will have the opportunity to take in the views of the lush sugar cane fields as well as the Ramisi Sugar Factory.

Upon arriving, you'll step aboard a motorized canoe for an exhilarating journey along the Ramisi River, teeming with various bird species. At low tide, we will pause to unwind on the remarkable sand banks of Funzi, a delightful spot for swimming in crystal-clear waters and sunbathing.

Lunch will be a feast of seafood, grilled fish, and coconut rice. Following our meal, you’ll have some leisure time on the beach to soak in the atmosphere and relax.

After regrouping, we will delve into the village of Funzi, where you can learn about the rich history and culture of the local community. This is a wonderful chance to engage with residents and discover their traditional customs and way of life.

Following an extensive four-hour exploration, we will make our way back to your hotel in Diani.
