Overview of the Day Trip

After departing from your hotel located in Funchal at the scheduled time, our first stop will be the Picos dos Barcelos viewpoint. Here, we’ll take a moment to appreciate the incredible vistas of the city.

Next, we’ll head towards Curral das Freiras, a quaint village nestled within the famed Nuns' Valley. This area gained its name following a pirate raid in 1566, during which the nuns from the Funchal convent sought refuge in this secluded part of Madeira. The dramatic mountain peaks that enclose the village present a striking backdrop.

Our journey continues to the renowned Eira do Serrado viewpoint, where we will pause for about 30 minutes to soak in the breathtaking views of the Nuns Valley below. The lush hills combined with the picturesque whitewashed houses of Curral das Freiras create an image worthy of a postcard!

Upon savoring the panoramic scenery, we’ll return to Curral das Freiras. From there, a minibus will transport us back to Funchal, concluding our excursion with a drop-off at your hotel after approximately four hours.
