Explore the Imperial City
At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your Hue hotel to commence our thorough tour of Hue, renowned as Vietnam’s former imperial capital. This remarkable site has held the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993.
We will kick off with a guided visit to the stunning Imperial City, which served as the residence for the Nguyen dynasty, the last ruling family of Vietnam, from 1892 to 1945. Here, you will encounter an extraordinary array of artifacts associated with this royal lineage, including the Hien Lam Pavilion, the Nine Imperial Urns, and The Mieu Palace. The site's cultural and architectural significance is truly enchanting!
Following that, we will further explore the city's narrative by visiting the Purple Forbidden City, an exclusive domain within the imperial citadel that was once the emperor's private retreat. Within its walls, you can admire the royal library, gardens, and theater—ideal spots for capturing memorable photos!
Our next stop is the ancient Thien Mu Pagoda, the oldest in Hue, beautifully positioned along the banks of the Perfume River. Constructed in 1601, the pagoda's grounds feature a historic vehicle that once transported monk Thich Quang Duc to Saigon, where he performed self-immolation in protest against the regime of Ngo Dinh Diem. This poignant history is sure to resonate with you.
From here, we will embark on a scenic boat ride along the Perfume River heading toward the city center, where a delightful Vietnamese lunch awaits at a local dining venue. After refueling, we'll proceed to the stunning tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, the fourth emperor of the Nguyen dynasty. This mausoleum stands out as one of the dynasty's most breathtaking sites.
Next, we’ll make a stop in the lively village of Thuy Xuan, famous for its incense and conical hats. To wrap up our tour, we will visit the tomb of Emperor Khai Dinh, a remarkable site that showcases a unique fusion of Vietnamese and European artistic influences. You might even notice that the sculptures of royal guards exhibit mixed racial characteristics!
After a full day of 7 to 8 hours exploring Hue's remarkable attractions, we will conclude by returning you to your hotel.
