Private Hike through Ghorepani & Poon Hill: 10 Days
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival, the grandeur of the Himalayas will greet you from afar! From the moment you touch down in Nepal, you'll have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of these majestic peaks. A transfer from Kathmandu Airport will take you to a centrally located hotel for a much-needed rest after your travels.
Once you’ve recuperated, we will meet in the hotel lobby to go over the itinerary for the upcoming trek. Following this discussion, we'll enjoy a welcome dinner featuring an array of Nepalese cuisine at a local restaurant, accompanied by a delightful dancing performance. After dinner, we'll return to the hotel for the night.
Day 2: Explore Kathmandu
After breakfast, we will embark on a guided tour of Kathmandu. Depending on group size, we'll navigate the city in a car or a minibus for comfort. Discover the rich history and culture of the capital as we visit notable sites like Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, and the renowned Swyambhunath stupa. The tour concludes with preparations for our trekking adventure as we gather our hiking gear.
After organizing your equipment, the remainder of the day is yours to explore Kathmandu at your own pace.
Day 3: Journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara
At 7 a.m., we'll depart from Kathmandu Bus Station towards Pokhara. This scenic drive lasts around 7 hours, with two scheduled breaks: a stop for breakfast and another for lunch (cost not included). Upon our arrival in Pokhara, we will check into a hotel for a restful night, essential for our hike that commences the following day.
Day 4: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga via Nayapul
Kickstart your day with breakfast before we board a bus to Nayapul, where the majestic peaks of Annapurna and Machapuchare will come into view.
At Nayapul, our porters will prepare the gear. Our hike begins along the banks of the Modi River, leading to the village of Birethanti. Here, our guide will handle the necessary permits required for ascending to higher altitudes. We will climb to an elevation of 4,855 feet (1,480 meters) before reaching our campsite in Tikhedhunga, where we'll spend the night with full board arrangements. Goodnight!
Day 5: Trekking from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani
After a filling breakfast, we will tackle the remarkable 3,000 stone steps leading to Ulleri. The effort will reward us with stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains.
The trek will continue through verdant forests, culminating in the enchanting village of Ghorepani, located at an altitude of 9,383 feet (2,860 meters). Here, we will lodge in a mountain retreat, where both lunch and dinner will be provided.
Day 6: Ghorepani, Poon Hill, and on to Tadapani
Rising early, we will set out for a morning hike to one of Nepal's exceptional viewpoints, Poon Hill. Arriving at dawn, we'll witness a breathtaking sunrise over the peaks of Annapurna, Machapuchare, Himchuli, and Dhaulagiri. After soaking in the early morning colors, we will return to Ghorepani for breakfast.
Post-breakfast, we will continue our descent through the village of Banthanti towards Tadapani, where lunch, dinner, and overnight accommodation await.
Day 7: From Tadapani to Ghandruk
Following breakfast in Tadapani, we head to the foothills of Annapurna. Arriving in Ghandruk, located at high altitude, we will enjoy a hearty lunch in this stunning mountain locale and prepare for an evening stay.
After our meal, we will explore a local handicraft centre and museum to delve into the region's rich traditions. Dinner will be served at our Ghandruk lodge before we retire for the night.
Day 8: Trekking back to Pokhara via Nayapul
Our last breakfast in Ghandruk signals the start of our return. Following the Modi River southward, we'll reach Nayapul, where a private vehicle will await to transport us back to Pokhara. After enjoying a delicious lunch featuring various Nepalese specialties, the afternoon is yours to leisurely explore the picturesque lake area. In the evening, we will take you to a 3-star hotel for your stay.
Day 9: Return to Kathmandu
Our journey resumes as we head to the bus station in Pokhara, beginning the 7-hour trip back to Kathmandu. We'll pause for breakfast and lunch along the way (lunch at your own expense). Upon arrival, a lovely farewell dinner awaits at a local restaurant, showcasing traditional Nepalese cuisine. We'll then take you back to a centrally located hotel.
Day 10: Departure from Kathmandu
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you'll have some leisure time until your departure pickup, which occurs 3 hours before your flight. Should you wish, you can extend your stay in Kathmandu for further exploration.
