Description
Day 1: Arrival in Lima
Upon your arrival in Lima, our team will meet you in the airport's arrivals area. We will then escort you to your hotel, allowing you to relax and begin your exploration of this vibrant city at your own pace.
Day 2: Lima
After enjoying breakfast at your accommodation, we embark on a comprehensive tour of Lima. This excursion will introduce you to various aspects of Lima, encompassing both its colonial heritage and modern developments. Notable stops will include the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, Huaca Pucllana, the Plaza de Armas, the Larco Museum, and the Convent of Santo Domingo.
After a 3.5-hour exploration, we will return to the hotel, where the remainder of the day is yours for further discovery of the Peruvian capital.
Day 3: Lima to Cusco
Following an early breakfast, we will transfer you to Jorge Chavez Airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon your arrival, our team will welcome you and take you to your hotel for some rest. The afternoon will be free for you to investigate the city independently.
As you roam Cusco, consider visiting renowned sites such as the San Pedro market, Koricancha Temple, the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, and the archaeological site of Q'enko. Be sure not to miss the Plaza de Armas, home to the Cusco Cathedral, a key religious landmark.
Day 4: Cusco - Moray & Maras - Sacred Valley
After breakfast, we'll journey to the salt mines of Maras, where you will learn that these mines produce some of the world's finest salt. We'll tour the impressive salt pans and grasp their significance to the nation's economy.
Next, we will head to Moray, an intriguing archaeological site within the Sacred Valley of the Incas, celebrated for its remarkable circular terraces that served the Incas as a botanical laboratory.
To conclude the day, we will visit the community of Misminay, where locals will greet us with traditional dances and music. We’ll also discover their unique handicrafts and the traditional processes of agriculture.
Finally, we will return you to the hotel in the Sacred Valley for the night.
Day 5: Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu and back to Cusco
We will begin with a hearty breakfast at the hotel and then embark towards the unparalleled Machu Picchu. Here, a guided exploration of the legendary Inca citadel awaits, featuring significant sites such as the Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana, Sacred Rock, and the Temple of the Three Windows.
After this unforgettable experience at one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, we will enjoy lunch in Aguas Calientes before taking the Expedition train back to Ollantaytambo and then returning to Cusco for the evening.
Day 6: Cusco
Following breakfast, you will have an entire day at your disposal to further explore Cusco or its nearby regions. If interested, consider visiting the stunning Rainbow Mountain or the picturesque Humantay Lagoon, both essential experiences.
Day 7: Cusco to Puno
After we finish breakfast, we will take you to the bus station in Cusco, preparing for a scenic bus trip to Puno. The journey will reveal the captivating landscapes south of Cusco, with highlights including the village of Andahuaylillas and the ruins of Raqchi, recognized as the Temple of the God Wiracocha. Our travels will culminate at La Raya, the highest point en route between Cusco and Puno, providing breathtaking panoramic views.
At day’s end, we will arrive at your hotel in Puno to rest.
Day 8: Puno to Copacabana and Isla del Sol
Following breakfast, we will drive toward Copacabana. Along the way, witness the majestic views of Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake. In Copacabana, we’ll view its iconic church and then take a boat across the lake to explore Hucani and the Inca Temple of Pillkukayna.
Finally, we will reach Isla del Sol, an area deeply significant to the Incas, where they erected temples dedicated to the Sun God. We will spend the night on this extraordinary island.
Day 9: Isla del Sol to La Paz
Your ninth day will commence with breakfast accompanied by a breathtaking sunrise over Lake Titicaca. We will then venture to the iconic Yumani Inca steps and explore intriguing sites, including the Fountain of Eternal Youth.
We will next embark on a boat journey to visit the ruins of Chincana, the Sacred Rock, and the Island of the Moon, before heading back to Copacabana. From there, we will cross the Andes Cordillera Real to La Paz.
Day 10: La Paz
After breakfast, we'll enjoy a unique guided tour of La Paz led by a "lustrabota". Our journey will commence at the former railway terminal of La Paz, followed by a ride on one of the city’s cable cars.
During this tour, we will visit the Main Cemetery as well as local markets, including Calle de los Peces, Calle de las Flores, and Uruguay. A highlight will be the Cholitas Market, where we can observe local women in traditional attire purchasing their skirts and textiles.
We will wrap up the half-day tour at the Witches Market, an excellent location to delve into Andean beliefs. The remainder of the afternoon will be yours for relaxation at the hotel or further exploration of La Paz's attractions.
Day 11: La Paz to Uyuni
After breakfast, we will take you to the airport in La Paz for your flight to Uyuni. Upon your arrival, we will greet you and transport you to the spectacular Uyuni Salt Flat. First, we will stop at the Train Cemetery, where antique steam locomotives from the 19th and 20th centuries are preserved. Afterwards, we will visit the indigenous community of Colchani, an ideal location to learn about various salt extraction techniques.
Our next stop will be Incahuasi Island and the pre-Columbian fort of Pucará de Ayque.
We will conclude our excursion by returning to the town of Uyuni.
Day 12: Uyuni to La Paz
After breakfast, we will accompany you to the Uyuni airport for your return flight to La Paz. Upon arrival, we will be ready to transfer you to your hotel for some rest.
In the afternoon, you have the option to take an independent excursion to the Tiwanaku ruins, one of the oldest sites of civilization in the Americas. If you choose this route, you will visit key locations including the Kalasasaya temple, the Ponce and Fraile monoliths, the Akapana pyramid, and the Semisubterranean temple!
Day 13: Departure from La Paz
As our journey draws to a close, we will share a final breakfast together before we take you to the airport in La Paz, concluding 13 unforgettable days spent discovering the most awe-inspiring destinations in Peru and Bolivia.
