Descripción
Experience the vibrant capital of Sicily through this exclusive guided visit to Palermo. Immerse yourself in over 2,500 years of history as you explore key historical sites like the Quattro Canti and the Palazzo dei Normanni.
Tour Options
When reserving, you may select between the following two tours. Both options begin at the appointed time at the Porta Nuova located in central Palermo. Below are the details for each alternative.
Palermo Tour (3 Hours)
Our private journey through Palermo starts at the remarkable Palermo Cathedral, a site rich with historical significance. If access allows, we will enter to admire the impressive central nave while learning about the city's vibrant past.
Subsequently, we will proceed to the Quattro Canti, an eye-catching Baroque square that stands at the city's heart. This location serves as the nexus of Palermo's historic district, intersecting Via Maqueda and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, making it the cultural pulse of the city. Here, we will uncover the city’s traditions that have contributed to its distinct character.
Our excursion will then take us to Piazza Pretoria and Piazza Bellini. In Piazza Bellini, we will tour the stunning Church of Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio. Recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalù and Monreale, this impressive church is sure to leave you in awe.
Afterwards, we will visit one of Palermo’s historic markets, offering a fascinating glimpse into local lifestyles and a variety of traditional produce.
In total, our exploration will conclude after about 4 hours.
Please note: the Church of Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio is accessible only from Monday to Saturday. On days when it is closed, an alternative baroque church will be included in the itinerary.
Palermo Tour + Palatine Chapel (4 Hours)
Opting for this choice, you will have approximately 10 minutes for a snack or a drink following the guided tour of Palermo. Afterwards, we will regroup and continue our journey to the Palazzo dei Normanni, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an outstanding representation of Arab-Norman architecture in Sicily.
This palatial structure, originally built by the Arabs and later enhanced by the Normans, houses the famous Palatine Chapel, known for its stunning Byzantine mosaics. While we explore this historic royal residence, we will visit its magnificent areas, including the splendid Palatine Chapel.
After a total of 4 hours, our private tour will reach its conclusion.
