Day 1: Furnas & Tea Plantations (8 hours)

We will convene at the scheduled time on João Bosco Mota Amaral Avenue in Ponta Delgada, where we embark in a minibus towards the quaint town of Vila Franca do Campo. After wandering through its charming streets and taking in the sight of the volcanic islet offshore, we’ll hop back onto the minibus to continue our journey to Furnas.

In Furnas, a realm of volcanic craters, bubbling fumaroles, and a captivating lagoon awaits discovery. As we delve into the geological marvels of the region, we will pause for a delightful meal featuring cozido à portuguesa, a signature dish of São Miguel. Additionally, there will be free time to explore the botanical gardens in Furnas at your leisure.

Our day will conclude with a visit to the Gorreana tea plantations, where you can sample one of their renowned tea blends, savoring its unique flavors and fragrances. The day’s activities will wrap up around 4:30 pm.

Day 2: Sete Cidades & Lagoa do Fogo (8 hours)

Your second day begins with a pickup from the meeting point as we head towards the heart of São Miguel Island to visit the stunning Lagoa do Fogo. Here, we’ll learn about the origins of this volcanic lake and explore the surrounding landscapes, rich in diverse flora and fauna.

The remainder of the day will be dedicated to exploring the scenic viewpoints near Lagoa das Sete Cidades, the most famous water body in the Azores. As we cross the bridge, fascinating insights about this natural wonder will be shared.

Before returning you to your accommodation, we will enjoy lunch at a traditional eatery. The excursion will conclude as we drop you off at the original meeting point around 4:30 pm.
