Tour Overview
We will convene at the designated meeting point in the city center and embark on a walking journey through the historic core of Porto. Are you prepared to unveil one of the most enchanting cities in Portugal?
Our adventure begins at the Porto Cathedral, recognized as one of the oldest and most significant monuments in the area. As we observe its grand facade, we will delve into the medieval roots of the city while taking in panoramic views of the historic district and the Douro River.
Next, we will proceed to São Bento Station, acclaimed as one of the most stunning train stations across Europe. Here, we’ll admire the renowned blue and white azulejo tiles that narrate pivotal events in Portuguese history, showcasing everything from royal occasions to everyday life scenes.
Continuing our journey, we will arrive at the Clérigos Tower, a beloved symbol of the city. As we explore the exterior of this remarkable structure, you will learn about its baroque style and its significance within the urban landscape of Porto through the years.
A brief walk will lead us to the renowned Lello Bookshop. From the outside, we’ll discover the intriguing tale of this extraordinary bookstore, celebrated for its remarkable architecture and its connection to the enchanting atmosphere that influenced elements of the Harry Potter series.
Our path will guide us through Praça da Liberdade and along Avenida dos Aliados, two of the most refined and vibrant locales in Porto. Surrounded by historical buildings and lively cafés, we will discuss the city’s rich political and social tapestry while enjoying the dynamic ambiance of contemporary Porto.
As we move forward, we will reach the Church of São Francisco. Here, we’ll admire its Gothic design and uncover the fascinating details of its opulent baroque interior as well as the historic catacombs that lie beneath.
Our final destination will be the Palácio da Bolsa, an exquisite 19th-century edifice that once operated as the city's stock exchange. We will explore its architectural significance and the vital role it played in Porto’s economic growth.
After approximately 3 hours of exploration and discovery of what sets this city apart, we will conclude our tour at this final site.
