Our journey leads us to Altos de Chavón, an exquisite replica of a traditional Mediterranean village from the 16th century. But what prompted the creation of this Renaissance-inspired site in 1976? Several theories abound, the most famous being that it was a gift for a daughter’s birthday from a prominent businessman.

We will begin our visit by enjoying spectacular vistas from the Chavón River lookout point and the opulent Casa de Campo resort, a favored retreat for several celebrities, including Messi, Sandra Bullock, Brad Pitt, Julio Iglesias, and even Bill Clinton.

Our exploration of Altos de Chavón continues as we wander along the cobblestone pathways, taking in the Renaissance-inspired structures such as the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Amber and Larimar. A visit to the San Estanislao church and the open-air theater, which draws inspiration from Greek architecture, will also be part of our itinerary. Moreover, we’ll pass by the delightful Traveso Fountain and the building of the Altos de Chavón Art School.
