Our journey begins at the designated time in Plaza del Poeta Iglesias. Here, our guide will introduce you to Salamanca's historical backdrop, covering its Roman origins and enduring reputation for academic excellence before we embark on the tour.
Our first destination is the renowned Plaza Mayor, often considered the heart of Salamanca. This magnificent Baroque square, a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site, is framed by stylish arches and charming cafés, providing the perfect ambiance to enjoy the local culture.
Continuing our exploration, we'll navigate the quaint streets of the old town to reach the impressive Casa de las Conchas. This distinctive palace, completed in 1517, features hundreds of stone shells, linking Salamanca's educational legacy with pilgrimage symbolism.
As we proceed, we will encounter the stunning Clerecía and the historic Pontifical University, which highlight the significant influence of religion and learning in the city's evolution. At the University of Salamanca, one of the continent's oldest institutions, we’ll admire its iconic façade and delve into narratives spanning over 800 years of scholarly tradition.
