Tour of Tacna and Campo de la Alianza

Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Tacna at your preferred time, as we embark on a discovery of the city's historical landmarks.

The tour commences at the Municipal Theater, a historical venue built in 1870, which also functioned as a field hospital during the renowned Battle of Tacna (also referred to as the Battle of the Peak of the Alliance) in 1880, where Peruvian forces, aided by Bolivia, faced off against Chilean troops.

Next, we will proceed to the Casa de la Jurídica, the site where the Chilean forces signed the surrender of Tacna to Peru. The itinerary also includes a visit to the home of Francisco Antonio de Zela, a significant figure in Peru's independence movement.

Continuing, we will pass by the residence of Jorge Basadre Growman, a notable chronicler of Tacna’s history, before we take a bus to the historic Campo de la Alianza, a crucial battleground for control of the region.

Following our time at Campo de la Alianza, we will visit the Museum of Arms to gain insight into the significance of this decisive battle. Our last stop will be the Campo Santo, where a marble cross adorned with a poem by Jorge Basadre and Jimenez Borja is located.
