12-Day Tour of Ghana
Day 1: Arrival in Accra
Upon your arrival at Accra airport, our team will greet you for a transfer to your accommodation in the capital. You'll have the remainder of the day to unwind and acclimate.
Day 2: Discovering Accra
Following breakfast, your guided exploration of Accra's key landmarks will commence. The journey begins at Independence Square, soon leading to the nearby Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where the first president of Ghana is honored. You'll continue to the largest artisan market in the country, followed by a visit to James Town, renowned for its historic lighthouses guiding vessels from the Gulf of Guinea. Your day wraps up with dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Accra - Shai Hills - Aburi - Accra
Your morning will start with a visit to Teshie Nungua, a village distinguished by its intriguing 'fantasy coffins'. Next, at the Shai Hills Reserve, you’ll witness the local wildlife, including antelopes, baboons, and bushbucks.
In the afternoon, the Aburi botanical garden awaits, showcasing the native plant life. A detour to the Akuapim hills and Tetteh Quarshie Farm, famous for its cacao, will enrich your experience. Before heading back to Accra, a stop at the Plant Medicine Scientific Research Centre will be made. Dinner will be served upon your return to the hotel.
Day 4: Accra - Akosombo - Ho
Departure from Accra takes you northward to the Akosombo Dam, where stunning vistas of Volta Lake can be enjoyed—often regarded as the cradle of Ghana's hydroelectric power.
Next, you'll visit Tafi Atome and its monkey sanctuary, an oasis that has withstood the tests of nature and time. The day concludes with dinner at your hotel in Ho.
Day 5: Ho - Wli - Tamale
The expedition continues towards Tamale in northern Ghana, with a visit en route to the Agumatsa Forest Reserve. The highlight will be the stunning Wli waterfalls, the highest in Ghana at approximately 24 meters (78 ft).
Upon arrival in Tamale, you will proceed directly to your hotel for dinner and relaxation.
Day 6: Tamale - Tongo - Paga - Mole
Your day starts with a visit to Tongo, where a customary greeting will welcome you. The next site is Paga, celebrated for its sacred crocodiles—known to be completely safe.
Following a market exploration in Tamale, the journey proceeds to Mole National Park for a thrilling night safari. Dinner and overnight accommodation are arranged at the Mole hotel.
Day 7: Discovering Mole
An early breakfast leads back to Mole National Park for another day of wildlife encounters. You’ll have leisure time afterward to relax at the hotel pool while observing elephants.
In the afternoon, your visit to the village of Morgounori will present you with insights into traditional northern Ghanaian lifestyles, complemented by a canoe ride. Return to the hotel for dinner and a restful night.
Day 8: Mole - Kumasi
After breakfast, the journey to Kumasi begins, with a stop at Kintampo waterfalls along the way. Upon reaching Kumasi, the Ashanti Kingdom's capital, you will tour the bustling central market and see the Okomfo Anokye Sword, accompanied by local tales of a heavenly throne.
The day ends with dinner back at the accommodation in Kumasi.
Day 9: Exploring Kumasi
After breakfast, set off for a visit to Manhyia Palace, the historical residence of the Asantehene. The tour will include Kumasi's historical center and a stop at the National Cultural Centre, housing the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum.
Later, excursions to the Ashanti artisan villages of Ahwiaa and Bonwire will allow you to observe the craftsmanship behind African sculptures and the creation of the renowned Kente fabrics. Return to the hotel for dinner.
Day 10: Kumasi - Busua
Morning departure from Kumasi leads to Busua, with a visit to the historic city of Obuasi, known for its striking gold mine from the Ashanti Empire.
Settle into your Busua hotel in the afternoon, celebrated for having some of the finest beaches in Ghana, allowing you time to unwind by the shore and swim in the refreshing Gulf of Guinea. Dinner concludes your day.
Day 11: Busua - Cape Coast
Day eleven commences with an exploration of Elmina Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site also known as St. George Castle. You’ll next visit Kakum National Park, home to one of West Africa’s few tropical forests and its famous canopy walkway that offers exhilarating views above the treetops.
The day wraps up at your hotel in Elmina, next to the beach, where you can relish the facilities and dinner.
Day 12: Cape Coast - Accra
Your morning will involve a visit to Cape Coast Castle and the West African History Museum.
Afterwards, the journey back to Accra leads to your airport transfer, marking the conclusion of the 12-Day Tour of Ghana.
