Palma de Mallorca Free Walking Tour
Description
On this free tour of Palma, we'll discover the 4,000-year history of the Balearic Islands - what is it about these islands that fascinated Roman settlers?
Explore Palma de Mallorca
We'll kick off our free tour of Palma de Mallorca at the old Fish Market. From this bustling hub of the Balearic capital, we’ll embark on a journey to explore the rich history and cultural tapestry of the city, revealing the influences of Romans, Muslims, Jews, and Christians on its monumental heritage.
From here, we'll stroll through scenic pine and palm trees as we uncover the monumental side of Palma. Along the way, we’ll admire the Palma de Mallorca Cathedral, an impressive golden sandstone building. Standing as one of the tallest Gothic structures in Europe, it proudly symbolizes the Balearic capital.
Right in front of the Cathedral, we’ll find the Royal Palace of La Almudaina. This historic walled complex served as the residence for the kings of Mallorca and later for viceroys and governors during the 13th and 14th centuries.
As we wander through the charming old town, we'll encounter traditional Mallorca patios, remnants of the city’s noble past. Our journey will take us to Plaza de Cort, leading us into the heart of the Jewish quarter, where we’ll delve into the significance of this community and its influence on modern Mallorca life. Afterward, we can admire the baroque facade of the Town Hall, a stunning building that adds a touch of grandeur to this part of Palma.
This free tour of Palma lets you uncover the secrets of Mallorca's capital, which the Romans called the elegant “main island.”
After a 2-hour visit, we'll end the tour next to the cathedral of Palma de Mallorca.
