Mapuche Cultural Experience

Your journey begins at 2 pm when we collect you from your accommodation in Pucón. We will head to the outskirts of the city to visit a vibrant Mapuche community nestled near the majestic Villarrica Volcano.

As we tour the community, you will gain insight into the heritage and traditions of the Mapuche people, exploring several rucas or traditional dwellings. Here, local families will share their perspectives on life, revealing fascinating details about their key customs, dances, rites, and spiritual practices.

Engagement with the community is key; you will participate in activities such as toasting wheat and spinning wool. Additionally, you can try on traditional Mapuche attire – the women typically wear a dress known as a ñaña, while men often wear a garment called a huentro.

To enhance your experience, we will host games of palín and chueca, two enjoyable sports from the Mapuche tradition. You will learn how to play while discovering the rich history that accompanies these age-old activities.

After this immersive exploration into the culture of Chile's largest indigenous community, we will return you to your hotel in Pucón, arriving around 6 pm.
