Tour Overview
At the designated time, we will convene in front of the Il Facchino Fountain to kick off our guided exploration of the Doria Pamphilj Gallery. This stunning collection resides within a magnificent 16th-century palace situated centrally on Via del Corso. Remarkably, it continues to be owned by the Doria Pamphilj family, serving as an enduring symbol of the splendor of the Roman aristocracy.
Are you ready to delve into the largest private art collection in Rome? During our visit, we will navigate through the opulent gilded halls, with sumptuous silk-covered walls and corridors embellished with frescoes, each narrating tales from a bygone era. Together, we’ll unveil the rich history and significance of this prominent family!
The collection includes remarkable masterpieces by Caravaggio, such as Rest on the Flight into Egypt and Penitent Magdalene, where the artist's mastery of chiaroscuro truly brings the characters to life.
We will also appreciate the renowned Portrait of Pope Innocent X by Velázquez, a celebrated work of oil portraiture that captures the essence of the pontiff.
