Polonnaruwa & Pidurangala Day Trip

Your adventure will commence at 8 am, as you are collected from your accommodation in Dambulla. A comfortable minibus ride will transport you to ancient Polonnaruwa, taking approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Upon arrival, you’ll exchange the minibus for bicycles and set off to discover the vast ruins that have earned a designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic location is recognized as one of Sri Lanka's earliest kingdoms, established by King Vijayabahu in the year 1070, nearly a thousand years ago.

After absorbing the history and splendor of this ancient city, we will proceed to the outskirts where you can enjoy a traditional ox-drawn cart ride across the picturesque countryside. Following this, a short boat excursion on Bendiweva Lake will offer a moment of relaxation before continuing with a tuk-tuk tour around the local area.

Next, we will arrive at Pidurangala, an enchanting location perfect for those seeking a retreat into nature away from the city's distractions.

Within this Buddhist complex, you’ll encounter the remnants of an ancient monastery. For those eager for a bit of adventure, there is the opportunity to ascend Pidurangala Rock for breathtaking views overlooking Sigiriya.

At the conclusion of your day, we will return you to your hotel in Dambulla, expecting to arrive around 2 pm.
