Day Trip Details

Your adventure begins as we collect you from your Djerba hotel and drive towards Ksar Ghilane, located about 3 hours away. En route, we will pass over the historic El Kantara, an impressive Roman bridge that stretches 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) connecting the island with the mainland.

About halfway through our drive, a stop in Medenine will allow for a visit to a local café. This is a great opportunity to discuss our itinerary for the day, and you can enjoy a coffee if you like.

As we continue our journey through picturesque villages such as Beni Kheddach, we will eventually arrive at Ksar Ghilane, a serene oasis nestled within the vast landscapes of the Grand Erg Oriental. Here, you will have 2 to 3 hours to delve into the nomadic lifestyle of the region and take in the beautiful surroundings. You may also choose to take a refreshing swim in the hot springs. For those seeking adventure, options for a camel ride or an exhilarating ATV tour across the dunes are available.

After this refreshing experience, we will share a delicious lunch with a view of the dunes, featuring local specialties such as soup, salad, Tunisian pastries, and couscous. After recharging with this delightful meal, we'll proceed to Matmata, renowned for its troglodyte homes. During our visit, we will step inside one of these cave dwellings to indulge in rosemary tea and savor homemade bread served with olive oil and honey.

On the way back to Djerba, we will follow the Berber Trail, offering insights into the lifestyle of the Berber people. Along this route, we will pass iconic locations from Star Wars and make several 30-minute stops in Tamazret, Toujane, and Ksar Metameur, perfect for capturing beautiful photographs.

Finally, we will conclude our day by returning you to your hotel in Djerba after a fulfilling 8-hour journey.
