Tour Overview

Your adventure begins with a prompt pickup from your Hanoi hotel, followed by a drive south to the Ninh Binh province. During this two-hour trip, a brief 20-minute stop will allow you the opportunity to purchase local Vietnamese crafts, including lacquerware, paintings, or embroidered items.

Upon reaching Hoa Lu, you will explore the remnants of the citadel that served as the Vietnamese capital in the 10th century. The area is rich in temples, pagodas, and monuments that showcase the striking architectural style typical of this historic region.

As midday approaches, we will head to a local eatery in Tam Coc for lunch. Following the meal, you’ll board a traditional rowboat on the tranquil waters of the Ngo Dong River, allowing you to soak in the beautiful vistas of the rice paddies. You'll glide through three noteworthy caves, collectively known as the ‘magic grottoes’: Hang Ca, Hang Hai, and Hang Ba. Throughout this experience, you'll appreciate the historical significance of this stunning area.

After a remarkable day immersed in picturesque mountain and river scenery, the journey will return you to Hanoi, where you’ll arrive back at your hotel approximately 11 hours after the start of your adventure.

Exploring the Rice Fields of Tam Coc

In Tam Coc, rice is harvested once a year. The sowing occurs in February, with the harvest taking place in May, making these months the prime time for exploration. Regardless, the stunning landscape remains enchanting year-round, ensuring a visit is worthwhile at any season.
