Descrizione
During this guided tour of the National Anthropological Museum, you'll go back to the origins of Mesoamerica and Mexican culture as you admire the world's largest collection of pre-Columbian art.
Tour Details
The tour meets at the main entrance to the Anthropological Museum to begin the Origins of Mesoamerican Culture guided tour.
Mexico City's National Anthropological Museum is the most important museum in Latin America. More than two million people visit every year to see up close the biggest collection of prehispanic art in the world.
We'll spend 2.5 hours following in the footsteps of prehispanic societies and get up to date on the most recent archaeological excavation and ethnographic studies. As we go back 10,000 years, we will admire an impressive collection of day-to-day objects from Mexico's first inhabitants, as well as symbolic elements from their cultural and religious ceremonies.
We'll observe the famous 'Sun Stone', also known as the Aztec Calendar, and discover the secrets it's said to hold regarding the origin of the universe. The tour also includes reconstructions of tombs and temples from the ancient Aztec and Mayan civilizations, along with remains from the Zapotec, Toltec, Teotihuacan, and Mexica cultures.
After immersing yourself in the cultural and artistic heritage of Mexico for 2.5 hours, you will have free time to explore the museum at your own pace.
