Santa María del Tule Cycling Adventure

Your day begins at 7 am, when we will collect you from your accommodation in Oaxaca and transport you to the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the starting point of our cycling journey.

As we navigate a designated bike path, our adventure leads us to the Zapotec community of Santa María del Tule. Upon arrival, we will cycle to various prominent locations, taking in the exteriors of the Municipal Palace and the Parish Church of Santa María del Tule, a 17th-century structure adorned with an image of the Virgin Mary.

You will also have the chance to enjoy the green spaces throughout the area, including Fraccionamiento El Retiro park, where you can disembark to capture memorable photos alongside the iconic colorful 'El Tule' sign.

Next, we will visit the renowned Árbol del Tule, an ahuehuete tree (Montezuma cypress), estimated to be around 2000 years old! The sheer size of its trunk, which exceeds 46 feet (14 meters) in diameter, is sure to impress you. After marveling at this remarkable natural wonder, you may taste some local delicacies at the nearby market.

We will then return to the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, wrapping up our cycling tour after covering almost 15 miles (24 kilometers). You can expect to arrive back at your accommodation in Oaxaca by 10 am.
